Last many days IIT Kharagpur has been going through a very unstable period. Its now getting more clear how one of the most honest professor of that institute Prof P P Chakrabarti has been victimised by a section of people. A big section of faculty and Alumni all have come forward in support of Prof Chakrabarti. And why not! If today he gets victimised, how can anyone next work honestly in the institute. Everyone would be fearing reprisals against them.
Today I have few questions from the CVC officer at MHRD. Its an open letter to him and would be CC'ed to many.
Let me start first with few questions on the Coalnet project investigation you did.
1. Now that you are supposedly done with a thorough investigation, you must be knowing well that Prof Chakrabarti was no way connected to the project. (For all else details of this project and PPC's mentioned role with his letter to Coal India posted here. LINK). Knowing well that this was the sole letter which told the true facts to Coal India and the only connection that PPC had with the project, how did you come to conclusion that he is guilty. Fact being, the only conclusion that any intellegent person would come to is "How come CBI made the report saying PPC has misrepresented". Can you throw more light on this particular fact as to how he misrepresented? Or is it that CBI and CVC are trying to say that by telling the "TRUTH" Prof Chakrabarti took the wrong step!!!
2. After going through all documents, I am sure now you know all parties who were involved in this project. Its now in the open that Prof Damodar Acharya was very much involved here. So how come CBI or even you never found it needful to add his name among the three blamed here. Prof Chakrabarti whose only connection to this project is that "ONE" sole letter to Coal India telling the true facts, yet he get implicated by you. But Acharya who has been a part of this project from the beginning goes scot free. How come??? This do bring lot of question on the investigation done by the CVC, if really this was an impartial unbiased one or not.
Mr Khare now let me come to some other appointment issues related to IIT Kharagpur.
1. Dr D Gunasekaran the former Registrar of IIT Kharagpur was implicated by CBI in a corruption charge. The administration after judicial probe came to the decision that he be suspended. No further investigation was done after this. Today he is currently holding administrative post at Rabindrabharati University. On what grounds did your CVC decide to give the go ahead/clearance. How come in his case you all felt CVC clearance given by IIT Kharagpur is enough for the next appointment??
2. Dr Damodar Acharya after his term ended as Director IITKharagpur, got appointed in the governing body of RBI. We know very well he is implicated in the Fake institute case already. Till date CBI is carrying on the investigation. Agian IIT Kharagpur CVC gives a clearance and its acceptable by you.
When you compare both the above cases and that of Prof PPChakrabarti, it do come to our mind that you seem to have different parameters to scale different people. Do you really call this being unbiased???
And when it comes to being unbiased, let me now show you something more. Though I am sure you must be aware of these facts, yet I feel time has now come for me to show the world that "You do are aware of this truth".
We know suspended prof Rajeev Kumar is quite a great friend of yours. Repeatedly you make sure to come into the media in his support. According to you he is being "Victimised". Let me now show you the open letter which was sent to Aravind Kejriwal. The letter carries all proofs against Rajeev Kumar. (Link Here). Knowing all these facts how come you still carry on supporting this man? Any investigating officer will know he did make grave mistakes through his career. How come you never thought of asking for Investigation against this man, infact you went on to support him even after being shown the true facts.
Now that today we have presented all facts point by point as far as your actions goes. Can we have an independed reply/explanations on the same??
